Movement
From the yogic tradition
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga energizes the body, builds strength and flexibility, and clears the mind through movement. It's a flowing style of yoga where you move through a sequence of poses in time with your breath. Move within your comfortable range and ease off if anything hurts.
Linking continuous movement to the breath raises your heart rate and circulation while demanding focus, which energizes the body and quiets mental chatter at the same time. You may feel warmth, your heart rate rising, muscles working, and a loose, open feeling afterward. Vinyasa and other active yoga styles have been studied for improving strength, flexibility, mood, and energy. Vinyasa grew out of the broader Hatha yoga tradition, with the flowing, breath-linked style shaped by twentieth-century teachers. You don't need to be flexible or get every pose right, modify freely, rest when you need to, and the flow becomes more natural as your body learns it.
