Controlled Hyperventilation

Controlled Hyperventilation powerfully energizes you, sharpens alertness, and can bring a clear, elevated state. It's rounds of deep, rapid breathing followed by breath holds. Skip it if you're pregnant or have heart or seizure conditions.

The rounds of rapid overbreathing lower carbon dioxide and shift your blood chemistry, which produces tingling, lightheadedness, and a strong surge of alertness, and the holds train your response to that state. You may feel intense tingling, lightheadedness, temperature changes, or even an emotional release, all of which can be normal, and you should ease out anytime it feels like too much. This style has been studied, including within Wim Hof method research, for effects on energy and the stress response. It's a modern breathwork practice related to the Wim Hof method and older tummo breathing. It's completely normal to find this demanding at first, the capacity for it builds gradually over weeks of practice, so start gentle and let it grow.
