Wim Hof Method
Wim Hof breathing energizes you, sharpens focus, and builds resilience to stress and cold. It's rounds of deep, rhythmic breathing through the mouth followed by breath holds, the method popularized by Wim Hof. It can make you lightheaded, so always practice sitting or lying down, never near water or while driving, and skip it if you're pregnant or have heart or seizure conditions.
The cycles of deep breathing and holds shift your oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, producing a flush of energy and alertness and, over time, training a steadier response to stress. You may feel tingling, lightheadedness, warmth or chills, and a strong alert buzz, all of which can be normal, and you should ease out anytime. The Wim Hof method has been studied for effects on the stress response, energy, and some immune markers. It was developed by Wim Hof, known as The Iceman, drawing on older tummo breathing from Tibetan practice. It's completely normal to find this demanding at first, the capacity for it builds gradually over weeks, so start gentle and let it grow.
