Acknowledgement Ritual

The Acknowledgement Ritual helps you recognize your own efforts and wins, counter your inner critic, and build a steadier sense of self-worth. It's a writing exercise where you name what you've done well and give yourself credit for it.

Deliberately naming your efforts and wins counteracts the brain's tendency to dwell on the negative, which over time builds a fairer, more encouraging inner voice and a steadier sense of progress. You may feel a small glow of pride, some awkwardness at praising yourself, and a more balanced view of how you're doing. Acknowledging progress and accomplishments has been studied for supporting motivation, confidence, and wellbeing. It draws on positive psychology and self-compassion practices that deliberately make room for crediting yourself. If giving yourself credit feels uncomfortable or boastful, that's a very common response, it isn't bragging, it's an honest accounting, and it gets easier with practice.
