Meditation
From the yogic tradition
Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra deeply relaxes body and mind, releases accumulated tension, and leaves you rested as though you've slept. Often called yogic sleep, it's a guided practice you do lying down, following the voice through the body and breath into a state of deep rest.
By guiding you into a state on the edge of sleep while staying lightly aware, Yoga Nidra brings the body into deep rest and the brain toward slower, restorative wave patterns, which can feel as restful as a nap. You may feel profoundly relaxed, heavy, or as if you're floating, and it's very common to drift in and out of sleep. Yoga Nidra has been studied for reducing stress and anxiety and supporting better sleep and deep relaxation. It's a traditional yogic practice of conscious relaxation, refined over the last century into the guided form widely used today. If you fall asleep, that's perfectly okay, you still receive much of the benefit, the practice is simply to follow the voice and let yourself rest, with nothing to get right.
