From the Buddhist tradition

Vipassana Meditation

Vipassana sharpens your awareness, deepens insight into your own patterns, and builds a steadier, clearer mind. Often called insight meditation, it's the practice of observing your sensations, thoughts, and feelings as they arise, without reacting to them.

By watching experience come and go without grabbing onto it, you train the mind to see its own habits clearly and to respond rather than react, which builds equanimity over time. You may notice strong sensations, restlessness, or a stream of thoughts, the practice is simply to observe them without getting pulled in. Vipassana and related insight practices have been studied for their effects on emotional regulation, attention, and self-awareness. It's one of the oldest Buddhist meditation techniques, preserved for over two millennia and central to many modern traditions. If sitting with whatever arises feels difficult or your mind is everywhere, that's completely normal, especially early, the capacity to observe without reacting deepens gradually with practice.
