From the yogic tradition
Mantra Meditation
Mantra Meditation quiets mental chatter, anchors a restless mind, and helps you drop into a calmer, more focused state. It's the practice of silently repeating a word, phrase, or sound, returning to it whenever your attention drifts.
Giving the mind a single sound to rest on occupies the part of it that would otherwise wander, which gradually settles mental activity and deepens concentration. You may find the repetition soothing, or notice your mind slipping away from the mantra often, both of which are normal. Mantra-based practices have been studied for reducing stress and supporting a calm, focused state, and some forms are among the most widely researched meditation techniques. Repeating sacred sounds is an ancient practice across yogic and Vedic traditions, and it underlies modern approaches like transcendental meditation. If you keep losing the mantra and your thoughts take over, that's expected, simply returning to the sound each time is the whole practice, and it comes more easily with repetition.
